Ocean Born Grants

Apply for funding

The Ocean Born Foundation is a grant-making foundation looking to fund a variety of ocean conservation and clean-up projects. Given we have just launched we are still cash flow negative implying we can only make small grants and donations for the moment.

Please note:

1. We do not make donations or grants to individuals.

2. We give preference to projects or organisations located in and around where we sell our products.

3. We are particularly interested in accelerating existing good work and strengthening existing structures, though happy to consider risky and bold initiatives.

4. We are interested in amplifying voices involved in advocacy for ocean health and sustainability.

5. We will always consider small projects. No request is too small if it is purposeful. For example, if you are a school that wants to teach your students about littering and would like to take a field trip to your local beach and collect rubbish, or, teach about why recycling is important and want to visit your local recycling station, and what you need is someone to the cover the cost of the bus, we are interested.

2020

We made a donation to The Ocean Clean-Up.

2019

We funded beach clean-ups in Portugal, see video and thank you to all who participated!

F.A.Q.

If you have any other questions don’t hesitate to contact us. We want to hear from you! Please send an e-mail to info@oceanbornfoundation.org

You can apply all year round.

Download our application form and attach all necessary supporting document. We have done our best to make it as streamlined as possible to help you reduce paperwork and proposal writing time in order to leave more time for your work.

We try to get back to you as quickly as possible, but the process may take up to three months.

If we have awarded a grant, a requisition slip will be sent together with the award notification letter. You return this when you need the money, which we will pay you through a bank transfer. We do not pay out grants in cash. If your need for a grant has changed since the application was submitted, you must not requisition the grant without our approving the change in advance.

The award notification letter will specify when and how an account shall be made of how the grant has been/is being used. These will vary depending on size and the nature of the project.

If the account is not approved, completely or partly, or if you have used the grant for purposes other than those specified, you will be obliged to repay an amount corresponding to the part that was not approved or that was not used for the purpose intended. Should you not hear from us within two months of our receiving your account, it has met with our approval. Failure to provide an account, completely or partly, will result in an obligation to repay the grant.
